The COVID 19 virus has created unprecedented challenges and hardship for all of Canada and the world. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.
It is important the services of Catholic Mutual Canada continue to be available to our Canadian members throughout the duration of the COVID 19 pandemic. Catholic Mutual Canada has not experienced any disruption of essential business operations. I am sure that you would agree that in addition to providing reliable service to our members it important that Catholic Mutual Canada provides a work environment that promotes good health and welfare for our employees and their families.
To this end, effective Tuesday March 17, 2020 at 4:30 PM EDT the offices of Catholic Mutual Canada in Toronto will be temporarily closed for operations and all employees will be outfitted with the necessary tools to continue the performance of their job responsibilities from their homes beginning March 18, 2020. We will continue to monitor the evolution of COVID 19 in the City of Toronto, the Provinces of Ontario and British Columbia, and throughout Canada. We will continue to rely on health care guidance provided by our Local, Provincial and Federal Health officials. The offices of Catholic Mutual Canada in Toronto will remain temporarily closed until all levels of Government have determined it is permissible to reduce the importance of following social distancing protocols.
We have taken proactive steps to continue the delivery of claim handling service, risk management service and general member service to our Canadian membership.
Effective March 18, 2020 at 8:30 am EDT your parishes, locations, or your dedicated single location can access all services performed by the Toronto service office by contacting our local 416 telephone number or our toll free telephone number. The Catholic Mutual Canada contact information and employee directory is attached. Please do not send any information to the Catholic Mutual Canada offices by fax as it will be impossible to monitor incoming fax messages.
The Catholic Mutual Canada telephone system is equipped with an auto attendant which functions a virtual receptionist during business hours. We ask everyone who telephones the offices to please follow the instructions which are prompted by the auto attendant. The Catholic Mutual Canada staff directory is attached for the convenience of everyone. The caller will be prompted to select the individual telephone extension number or connect to the staff member by dialing by name. The call will be directed to the desk phone of the employee and through the software program that same call will be automatically forwarded to the employee’s cellular telephone.
If the caller is not certain who to speak with at Catholic Mutual Canada, the caller should always select extension 222. Ludmila Gorea will handle the request or arrange for someone else to assist the caller. If an incoming caller leaves a message in the general delivery mail box that message will converted to an electronic audio file attachment and an email including the voice message will be forwarded to a Catholic Mutual Canada email address which is always monitored.
New claims can be reported by telephoning the Catholic Mutual Canada offices during regular business hours – the caller can contact Nick Pedro at extension 227 or Ludmila Gorea at extension 222. The after-hours emergency claim service of Catholic Mutual Canada will continue to accept new claim requests reported after 4:30 pm EDT Monday to Friday and on weekends.
For the convenience of our Canadian members we have created a dedicated email address that can be used to report new claims by email. Details that are pertinent to a new claim can be emailed to Catholic Mutual Canada 24/7 by using the email address: claimscanada@catholicmutualcanada.org
It is reasonable to assume the demand for certificates for coverage will reduce for the foreseeable future. If a certificate of coverage is required please contact Ludmila Gorea to arrange for the documentation to be prepared.
Please ask your parishes and locations who have completed the Self inspection Report form for each ledger page item to email the report to RM@catholicmutualcanada.org
Please reach out to any Catholic Mutual Canada team member if you have any questions. Take care everyone.
Best Wishes,
